Beam is a Mac app that publishes a finished website from a local export folder to your own web server. It is designed for static sites and exported PHP websites that need a more reliable workflow than uploading thousands of individual files manually.
What Beam does
Beam:
Packages the exported website as a release.
Transfers the release in resumable chunks.
Verifies and activates it on the server.
Publishes only changed files after the initial release when possible.
Automates exports with Hotfolder.
Creates Webroot Backups and can include additional server folders.
Keeps Published Releases for rollback.
Synchronizes project settings through iCloud for use on multiple Macs.
Detects and updates outdated Beam server components.
What Beam does not do
Beam does not build or edit the website. First export the finished site from your website tool into the local project folder, then publish that folder with Beam.
Beam is not a complete hosting backup system. Webroot Backups contain files, not databases. Database backups remain the responsibility of the database or hosting provider.
Where Beam installs server files
Beam prepares a small server component under /beam-helper/ inside the selected live webroot. It receives authenticated requests from the app and handles release assembly, activation, backup, restore, and rollback.
Start free
Beam includes one free project. Create a project, prepare its server, and test the full publishing workflow before adding more projects.
