TotalRecall can restore the complete tcms-data directory or selected content. A restore changes live website data, so choose the scope carefully.
BEFORE RESTORING
Confirm the restore point date and run Verify. Download a copy when the current state may still be needed. Keep the automatic safety snapshot enabled unless you have a specific reason not to.
RESTORE MODES
Everything restores the full snapshot.
Selected restores only the items you choose.
Exact mirror also removes current files that are not present in the selected snapshot. Use this only when the website must match the old state exactly.
SAFE RESTORE WORKFLOW
Put the site into a suitable maintenance state when visitors or editors could write data during the restore.
Verify the restore point.
Leave the safety snapshot enabled.
Choose the smallest restore scope that solves the problem.
Start the restore and wait for its completion message.
Open the website and Total CMS, then test the affected content and extension pages.
TotalRecall verifies file hashes before replacing files and uses atomic file replacement where possible. Its own installed program files are excluded in the standard extension location, so restoring tcms-data does not downgrade or remove TotalRecall itself.
If a restore is interrupted or the result is unexpected, stop editing the site and use the safety snapshot or the last verified restore point.
