MapMax creates responsive location maps with Leaflet and OpenStreetMap-based tiles. It can display manually entered locations, CSV data, Total CMS 1 or Total CMS 3 content, and data supplied through the optional Feeds Stack.
Plan the first map
Before adding locations, decide which data source will own the content. Use manual MapMax Item child stacks for a short fixed list. Use CSV or Total CMS when locations need to be maintained outside the page.
Add and size the map
Add MapMax to the page.
Choose a map style and an accent color.
Select full-screen height or an aspect ratio. Set a useful minimum height so the map remains visible on small screens.
Choose whether the zoom controls should be shown.
Choose the sidebar layout
The location list can be hidden or placed on the left, right, or bottom. The bottom layout presents locations as horizontally browsable cards. Enable search when visitors need to find a location by name, and choose the required ascending or descending order.
Add the first location
For manual data, add a MapMax Item child stack and enter its name, address, description, URL, latitude, longitude, and optional image. Repeat the child stack for each location.
For CSV or CMS content, configure the chosen source and make sure every published item provides valid coordinates and the fields used by the sidebar or popup.
Configure the initial view
MapMax can start with all pins visible and add visual padding around the group. Clustering keeps larger location sets manageable. Use the popup focus offset when an open popup would otherwise sit too close to the edge of the map.
Publish and test
Check the map at narrow and wide sizes. Select locations from both the sidebar and the markers, test search and filters, and open every public action button. Multiple MapMax maps can be used on one page, each with its own settings and data.
