Statser is designed for first-party analytics without tracking cookies or stored raw IP addresses.

WHAT IS STORED

Page views, referrers, browser and device information, supported actions, status codes, and anonymous daily visitor keys are stored in tcms-data/.system/extension-data/stackswork/statser. Raw IP addresses are processed briefly to create an anonymous key, apply exclusions, and optionally resolve a location, but Statser does not store the raw address.

EXCLUDE YOUR OWN DEVICE

Use Exclude this device in Settings. Statser stores a first-party browser flag and a functional opt-out cookie containing no identifier. It stops new tracking for that browser on the current domain. Existing live activity disappears after the configured live window; already stored historical totals are not rewritten.

EXCLUDE AN IP ADDRESS

Add the current public IP to Excluded IP addresses and save. Statser stores the exclusion as a keyed hash, not as the readable IP. If the internet connection later receives another address, add the new address as well. Excluding IPv4 does not automatically exclude a separate IPv6 address.

GEOIP IS OPTIONAL

Without GeoIP, page views, visitors, referrers, devices, actions, errors, and trends are still tracked. Only country, region, and city remain unavailable.

To enable approximate locations, create a free MaxMind GeoLite account, add its Account ID and License Key in GeoIP settings, choose Country or City, and click Update GeoIP. The downloaded database stays in the Statser extension storage and lookups happen on your server; visitor IP addresses are not sent to MaxMind by Statser. If the server cannot download the database, use the manual .mmdb, .tar, or .tar.gz import shown in the same panel.

Review the supplied privacy notice text and adapt it to the website. Web server logs may store IP addresses independently of Statser, so check the hosting log settings separately.
