Beam publishes a website from a local export folder to a standard web server. It packages the release, transfers it in resumable chunks, and activates it on the server instead of sending thousands of individual files.
Before you start
A Mac running macOS 13 Ventura or later.
The folder into which your website tool exports the finished site.
Your domain and the SFTP, FTPS, or FTP credentials for the live webroot.
Enough server space for the new release and any backup you choose to create.
Beam includes one free project, so the complete workflow can be tested before adding more projects.
Add the project
Install Beam in the Applications folder and open it.
Add a project and enter a unique project name.
Choose the local source folder that contains the exported website.
Enter the public domain for the project.
Install the Beam Helper
Open Project Setup and configure the server connection. SFTP on port 22 is the recommended default. Use Browse to select the live webroot, test the remote connection, and click Install Beam Helper. Beam installs and configures the Helper inside the selected webroot.
Run Test Connection when installation is complete. Continue only when Beam confirms that the server connection and Helper are ready.
Complete the first publish
Export the complete website into the selected local source folder.
Choose Publish Changes. With no earlier Beam release available, Beam can fall back to a complete archive automatically.
Wait until Beam reports that uploading, assembly, and activation are complete.
Open the public website in a separate browser and test the homepage, navigation, forms, images, and any server-managed content.
