ZapNap can protect one page, a selected group of pages, or a wider site area. The correct placement depends on how much of the published site should be unavailable.

Choose the placement

  • One page: add ZapNap directly to that page.

  • Selected pages: add and configure an instance on each affected page.

  • Site-wide control: place ZapNap in a shared partial that is included on every affected page.

After changing a shared partial, publish every page that depends on it and verify more than one public URL.

Optional CMS control

ZapNap supports a CMS-controlled workflow when it is placed in a shared partial. This requires EasyCMS or Total CMS, which are not included with ZapNap. The CMS field and publishing setup depend on the project, so test the off and on states before relying on it for scheduled work.

The overlay is not visible

  • Confirm that Maintenance Mode is enabled and the affected page was published.

  • Make sure the published page actually contains ZapNap or the shared partial.

  • Test the normal URL without a Stealth Preview parameter.

  • Clear page, hosting, or proxy caches if an older published version is still being served.

The page stays in maintenance mode

  • Disable Maintenance Mode and publish the affected page or shared partial again.

  • Check other ZapNap instances that may also be active.

  • Verify the result in a private browser window.

The layout or background looks wrong

Check the overlay fill, margin, padding, card width, border, and background settings at both narrow and wide viewport sizes. If a background image is missing, confirm that its published URL is accessible without editor access.

Accessibility checklist

  • Use a meaningful headline and explain what is unavailable.

  • Maintain strong contrast between text, card, and background.

  • Keep important information as text rather than placing it only inside an image.

  • Use animation sparingly.
