TotalRecall protects the complete tcms-data directory with versioned backups that can be verified, downloaded, and restored from the Total CMS admin area.

REQUIREMENTS

Total CMS 3.5.0-rc.1 or newer and PHP 8.2 or newer are required. ZIP support must be available. Manual backups work with Lite, Standard, and Pro. Scheduled backups require Total CMS Pro and a working Automations cron job.

INSTALLATION

  1. Download and extract the TotalRecall archive.

  2. Locate the tcms-data directory that is actually configured for this website. With RapidWeaver or a subdirectory installation, this may not be in the web root.

  3. Open tcms-data/extensions. Create the extensions folder there if it does not yet exist.

  4. Upload the included stackswork folder. If tcms-data/extensions/stackswork already exists, merge the folders.

  5. Confirm that the final path is tcms-data/extensions/stackswork/totalrecall. An extra stackswork level is incorrect.

  6. Open Extensions in Total CMS, enable TotalRecall, and open it from the new sidebar icon.

FIRST RUN

TotalRecall creates its backup repository outside tcms-data. The default is a hidden .totalrecall directory beside tcms-data. Keep that location writable and do not move it inside tcms-data.

Create a first manual backup, run Verify, and download the archive before relying on scheduled backups. The seven-day trial starts the first time TotalRecall is opened.

IF TOTALRECALL IS NOT LISTED

Check the actual tcms-data path first. Then confirm the folder structure, PHP version, file ownership, and permissions against another working Total CMS extension.
