Stackswork extensions are installed inside the extensions folder of the tcms-data directory that the current Total CMS website actually uses.

BEFORE INSTALLATION

Confirm the extension requirements on its product page, including the minimum Total CMS version, edition, PHP version, and optional server modules. Create a current, verified backup of tcms-data.

FIND THE CORRECT DATA DIRECTORY

Do not assume that tcms-data is in the web root. RapidWeaver projects, Composer installations, and websites installed in subdirectories may point Total CMS to another location. Open the tcms-data directory configured for this exact website.

INSTALL THE EXTENSION

  1. Download and extract the extension archive.

  2. Inside the active tcms-data directory, open extensions. Create tcms-data/extensions if it does not yet exist.

  3. Upload the included stackswork folder into tcms-data/extensions.

  4. If tcms-data/extensions/stackswork already exists, merge the folders. Do not replace the folder and remove other Stackswork extensions.

  5. Confirm the final path: tcms-data/extensions/stackswork/extension-name.

  6. Open Extensions in Total CMS and enable the new extension.

  7. Open it from the sidebar and complete its first-run check.

COMMON PATH ERROR

A path such as tcms-data/extensions/stackswork/stackswork/extension-name contains one stackswork level too many. If the sidebar icon opens Route not found, check the actual tcms-data location and final folder structure before changing URLs.

PERMISSIONS

Use the same owner and permissions as other working Total CMS extensions. The web server must be able to read the program files and write only to the data locations documented by the extension.

UPDATES

Create a current backup before updating. Use the update control inside the extension when available, review the version and release notes, and test the affected workflow after installation. Do not upload an archive over a live extension while a restore, import, or other long-running action is active.

When asking for help, include the extension version, Total CMS version and edition, PHP version, actual installation path, exact action, exact error message, and whether the website uses RapidWeaver or a subdirectory.
