Every BlogClone operation has a source and a destination. The source identifies the blog that contains the original post; the target identifies the blog that will receive the copy.
Choose the blog IDs
Set the source blog ID to the blog used by the post you are editing. Set the target blog ID to the blog that should contain the cloned post. The two IDs may be the same when you are making a copy inside one blog.
If the site contains only one blog ID, BlogClone can hide the blog-selection controls because there is no alternative destination. On sites with multiple blogs, check both IDs carefully before cloning.
Set a unique permalink
The clone dialog proposes a new permalink. Review and edit it before you continue. The new permalink must identify the cloned post rather than overwrite or collide with another post.
Use a short, descriptive value.
Do not reuse the permalink of the source post.
Check other blog IDs too when the site contains multiple blogs.
Current versions use the selected source and target blog IDs to avoid copying data from a same-permalink post in the wrong blog.
Configure the redirect
Choose the editor page that BlogClone should open after the clone succeeds. The success screen briefly confirms the operation and then redirects to that page, where you can review the copied post.
Safe review
Keep the new post unpublished until its permalink, blog assignment, content, media, and links have been checked. If anything is unexpected, stop editing and restore from the backup made before cloning.
