A TotalRecall backup captures the complete tcms-data directory, including site identity, schemas, collections, assets, Builder templates, and data-directory extensions.
CREATE A BACKUP
Open TotalRecall from the Total CMS sidebar.
Choose the manual backup action.
Add a useful label when the interface offers one, especially before an update or migration.
Keep the page open until the new restore point appears.
VERIFY BEFORE YOU NEED IT
Use Verify on important restore points. TotalRecall checks the stored objects and file hashes so a damaged or incomplete backup is found before a restore is attempted.
DOWNLOAD A PORTABLE COPY
Download creates a ZIP of the complete tcms-data snapshot. Store important copies away from the web server. A backup held only on the same server does not protect against server loss.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
Regular files in tcms-data are included. Symbolic links are skipped and reported. TotalRecall stores repeated content efficiently, but every restore point still represents a complete snapshot.
GOOD TIMES TO CREATE A MANUAL BACKUP
Create one before updating Total CMS, installing or updating an extension, changing schemas, importing content, or making a large batch edit. Verify and download the backup when the change is difficult to reverse.
