A good Styled Text toolbar gives an editor the tools needed for the content without exposing controls that can break the site’s design.
CREATE OR EDIT A PRESET
Open Toolbar Wizard from the Total CMS sidebar.
Load an existing preset or create a new one with a clear name.
Enable the required tools and menu groups.
Use the toolbar preview to check the order and grouping.
Save the preset.
Reopen it once to confirm the saved configuration.
DESIGN THE TOOLBAR FOR THE FIELD
A short teaser may need bold, italic, and links. A long article may also need headings, lists, quotes, and media controls. Fewer choices usually make editing faster and keep published content more consistent.
BEFORE REMOVING A PRESET
Check whether custom schema fields still reference it. Assign those fields to another preset first. Removing a preset that is still expected by a field can leave the editor with an unintended default toolbar.
CHANGES ARE SITE SETTINGS
Toolbar Wizard writes to the native Total CMS preset settings. Create a verified tcms-data backup before large preset changes, especially when several content types share the same preset.
After saving, test the toolbar in the real Styled Text editor. The preview shows the configuration, while the field test confirms the complete editing experience.
