Beam Helper runs on the web server and handles release assembly, activation, backups, and rollback. For a normal setup, install and update it directly from the Beam app.
Install Beam Helper
Open the project and choose Project Setup.
Open the server connection settings.
Choose SFTP, FTPS, or FTP and enter the server host, port, username, and password. SFTP on port 22 is the recommended default.
Use Browse to select the live webroot. The chosen remote path must be the directory served by the project domain.
Run the remote connection test.
Click Install Beam Helper.
Run Test Connection after installation.
Beam installs Helper files only inside a beam-helper folder under the selected remote path and sets the required Helper configuration during setup.
Update Beam Helper
Each Beam version includes a compatible Helper. When Beam reports that a newer Helper is available or required, open the project setup and click Update Helper. Run Test Connection again to confirm the installed version and required capabilities.
If installation or updating fails
Confirm that the project domain points to the same live webroot selected under Remote path.
Use Browse instead of guessing the server path.
Verify that the server account can create folders, upload files, and set usable permissions inside the webroot.
Check the protocol and port. Explicit FTPS commonly uses port 21; implicit FTPS commonly uses port 990.
Run the connection test again before repeating the installation.
